I gave up on that idea but not the software, if a really amazing controller came out for Reason, I would be very happy. For the longest, I was so hoping there would be a dedicated Reason controller, a few tried, but never in a modern way, and it never worked. Live has had more than a few controllers dedicated to it and it's one of the few programs that are not hardware specific that have seemingly (I haven't had a chance to try any) great controllers dedicated to it. However, I think your second point is spot on. Not trying to knock you for that, just stating it's not a fair judgement.

I am giving up on Pro Tools most likely, I am on 7.something, I don't think I am qualified to speak on the software, other than my frustrations over the years, I was really unhappy with certain business practices but new users don't have to deal with it and I am sure it's totally worthwhile, I may jump back in it but I certainly can't speak on it from a version way newer from your experience. Certain things are similar, surely, but it's a totally different beast now. I know FL 2 or 3 was out before I started, I started with Reason 2.0 and it's not even comparable. Add Push 2 and it get even better!!It's a bit unfair comparing a super early version of software to what it is now. But for creating and brainstorming song ideas and beats. Pro Tools is my goto for Tracking live instruments, mixing and editing. I always like to check out different DAW's and see what they can do. This stuff always comes down to personal preference though. When I'm feeling lazy and just want to do everything in one DAW, lately I've been sticking with Cubase Pro. Unfortunately there is still no DAW that I like for doing absolutely everything, and there probably wont ever be, though some do come close. I've used just about ever DAW on the market worth using, except Reaper, Harrison, and Sequoia, and they all seem to have their ups and downs in terms of workflow across the board. Add Push 2 and it get even better!!I'm currently all Mac for studio work as well, but I'm thinking of adding a Windows 10 machine so I can jump back into the newest version for songwriting purposes.
